We Might Be Headed For Third Wave Of Covid-19 – PM Nabbanja

Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja has said the country might be headed for a third wave of Covid 19. This has followed a spike in the spread of the virus lately.

Omricon variant is fast spreading among the citizens. Almost everyone knows someone who has flue and cough right now. Twitter has been going wild due to the current flu rate among especially those in Kampala.

According to Nabbanja, several reports given to her by the Ministry of Health officials indicate an increase in the spread of the virus.

On 20th December, the country recorded 502 cases of Covid-19, the highest in the last three months. Currently, figures for the past two days are being compiled.

“Doctors and the ministry of health have told me that Mulago beds are becoming full. Covid-19 is real people. We need to vaccinate, wear masks, and social distance. We shouldn’t lose lives again,” Nabbanja said.

Of the reported 502 cases, Wakiso and Kampala registered the highest numbers according to results from the ministry of Health. Kampala had 238 cases, Wakiso reported 199 cases while Mbarara had 3 cases.

Does this mean opening up the country is now in jeopardy? Will the President stick to his word of opening up in January even with the rise of cases?

Dr.Aceng had promised that there will not be another lockdown regardless of the new variant.  January is only a few days away.
