We Want To Be The Government Not Leading Opposition Party – Salaamu Musumba

FDC Vice President for Eastern Uganda, Proscovia Salaamu Musumba, has said they are not in politics to just become the leading opposition party.

She says they want to be the government. Additionally, she says FDC is here to overtake everyone in the political field.

“We have been around the country, understanding the political landscape as it changes. As a political party, we are duty-bound to grow and hold the ground and overtake everyone in the political field. We were never consumed by a wave. We are FDC, one Uganda, one people. Our target and set up of the party is not to be the leading opposition but to be the government.”

She says on the other hand that NUP came as a propaganda platform. It should be remembered that NUP started as a movement known as People Power.

However a few months before the elections, Kyagulanyi announced that they had bought NUP from Kibalama.

“NUP came on a propaganda platform, on a false promise platform. It didn’t come as NUP. A creeper came up as NUP. It was ‘People Power’,” Salaamu said.

However, some members of the public have said trash-talking NUP is doing FDC more harm than good.

“The young people in the country and specifically Buganda did not have any problem with FDC. But the words these FDC people keep on saying about NUP are making us see no relevance in FDC anymore. Our parents and us supported u for 20 gud yrs! What did u offer? Let us try this too,” a one Ssenyondo Joram wrote.
