Weasel said that this is a big diss to the local singers whose songs are sampled by these artistes.
“Ugandan Events Organizers, Why do you invite international Artistes to come and perform our own songs without consulting us? WTF Lwaki mutujjooga nyoo man?” Weasel said.
A number of foreign artistes have always sampled popular Ugandan songs while performing in the country.
This is at times to pay tribute in case the artiste passed away or to show appreciation to Uganda music. These kind of moves always has the crowds moving in ecstasy. Weasel is however not having this sort of behavior anymore.
Fans however resorted to telling him how such artistes are only showing respect and paying homage to Ugandan art.
The Ebyaana singer still insisted that this only shows disrespect. This is because it’s only the ‘not so big artistes’ who have such behavior.
According to Weasel, if the likes of Wizkid and P-Square can ask for permission before performing foreign songs in a foreign country, then at least every artiste ought to do the same.
“There is no one we can refuse to give rights to perform or pay tribute to our very own as long as you go through the right channels… Show some Respect, come inquire and ask for permission then… If Wizkid, Psquare can come and ask for permission, then who are you? I think we have been too silent, we gonna start going a bit hard on this thing,” Weasel further said through his Facebook page.
