Let us start from scratch, the lyrics of the song.
Obviously, lyrics contribute to a song being a hit to a great percentage. Artists that write about relatable issues are likely to make hits in the industry. This is because when people listen to the song, they can easily lean in. Every song writer must be wise to always identify seasons and create content accordingly.
Then comes the voice, most of the artists in Uganda are honestly not that good as vocalists. However with a great studio, everything is possible. They can make an audio that can be listened to and make listeners think there is a good voice there. So this means the production level is equally important.
Music Videos are another thing, you must have a concept builder who can interpret the audio into the video. Someone should look at the video and it tells a story before even listening to the song. This is not the case most times. You find the audio and video of the same song so independent from each other which is wrong. Of course there is quality, and here there is no compromise at all.
Last but not least is the marketing personnel of the artist. Most times they want to call these people promoters. You must have such people in your league to keep the songs in our faces and eyes. You will find a very weird song becoming a hit just because of great promoters. Anyway, one thing you should know in the music industry is that, making a song a hit is not by mistake. It is intentional.
