What Zaake Did Was Backward And Embarrassing, Ingrid Turinawe

The former mobilisation secretary of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Ingrid Turinawe, has condemned Zaake’s behavior during his wedding. She says what he did was embarrassing and backward. Francis Zaake made news when he threw away an envelope containing Shs 10 million from the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among during his wedding reception.

Among though invited couldn’t make it to the wedding, the money was delivered by Ndorwa East MP, Wilfred Niwagaba. Ingrid said this behavior was unbecoming.

“Let’s be honest, if I don’t want you at my function, I don’t invite you. If I invite you, when you turn up, I don’t chase you away. Zaake Francis throwing away a gift from your own invited guest Anita Among is total backwardness and self-embarrassment,” she said.

The public too has been divided over this same issue. Some people are supporting what Zaake did while others are condemning the act calling it barbaric. This issue is mostly complicated due to the people involved in it. One being the legislator and another being the Speaker. A certain behavior and character is expected of him so when such things happen, it surely has to make news.

Regardless of this, the wedding went on well and Zaake is now happily married. The couple Zaake and Bridget Namirembe have been together for now eight years.
