Swangz Avenue singer, Priscilla Zawedde alias Azawi seems to be taking a more serious interest in the way the affairs of this nation are run. She has come out to question when the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will ever listen to Ugandans’ outcries.
This followed Museveni’s counterpart, William Ruto giving in to Kenyans’ demands of dropping the controversial Finance Bill.
Protests broke out in Kenya a few days ago and about 21 lives were lost and several properties vandalized.
Apparently, this bill sought to increase taxation on key basic commodities, a thing that Kenyans rejected in unison across the country. Finally in an official statement last night, Ruto conceded and dropped the bill and all its clauses.
Taking to her X, the Masavu singer commended the Kenyan President. She then turned the gun on her own President. The singer said that for nearly 40 years, the President has ignored the calls to fight corruption. She added that even MPs from the NRM are shamelessly and publicly condoning it.
“Ruto has finally listened to the Kenyan People. When will our president @KagutaMuseveni listen to our cry over corruption? It’s been 40 years ffs and my nigga has done absolutely nothing about it. Some of our Legislators are even shamelessly condoning it! What is he afraid of?”
It should be noted that several MPs and some public officials are currently behind bars over allegations of corruption. Among these is the Lwengo district woman MP, Cissy Namujju.
Now, while at a crowd gathering in Lwengo, several MPs from the ruling party including the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among stood in solidarity with the accused Namujju. She said that the President has had the cries of the people of Lwengo and their MP will be set free soon.
