Why Are Boda Bodas Still Under Curfew?

Officially on the 24th of January, the economy was wholly opened apart from the boda Bodas. Till now Boda Bodas are still operating under specific rules and regulations including curfew.

They are expected to be off the road by 6pm. The question though is why are they still subjected to curfew? Why is it so hard for them to be operating freely just like all the other sectors of transport.

The President didn’t really give so much information regarding this issue. However, rumour has it that it is attached to security reasons.

For so long, the president has been pinning boda Boda riders for causing insecurity especially around the City. Most of the crimes that have been so alarming have had boda Bodas involved somewhere.

The killings of security personnels and also dignified people have been having boda Bodas somewhere.

It is therefore for this reason that these fellows still have curfew. Obviously, the truth is, security has been at least better than the previous years.

Another thing that may be keeping boda Bodas under curfew could be their irritating indiscipline on the road. Some times these riders make it feel like they have their own road regulations that they follow which causes many accidents.

Meanwhile, they have tried to be as disciplined as they can so that they are left to carry out their business as they should. It’s not just them who miss the freedom they had, but their clients as well who can’t call them anymore after a particular time.

In any case, it doesn’t look like they are lifting curfew anytime soon because the president has not even whispered about it lately.
