Why Are Most People Trashing The MTV MAMA Awards?

After the disclosure of the MTV Mama nomination list, most people have trashed it doubting its authenticity. GNL Zamba, a known hiphop legend in Uganda said he was so disappointed that there was no section given to hiphop and yet it has grown immensely in Uganda.

More so no hiphop artist in Uganda was nominated in any kind of category.

Some music analysts wondered how Bobi Wine even missed a nomination. According to them, he did something that most African artists can’t and have never pulled off. Bobi wine held two online concerts that attracted a lot of viewers.

His first concert was held at his place, and he represented the African culture well. The second concert was held near the lake to show off the fan side of Uganda.

Matter of fact though, no awards have ever satisfied fans or musicians to the dot. Every time awards are organized, there always comes up objection on why some people are there and why others are not there. We don’t know how awards organizers can strike a balance so that at the end of the day all sides feel included but that is close to impossible because everyone has their opinion on who deserves what.

However, the MTV Mama awards organizers have not come out to say anything about these critics. They have continued to publicize the event.

We don’t know if this won’t have a negative impact on them because even on East African scene. Diamond Platinumz wasn’t nominated among best male artistes.
