This is because the theater was already booked by the time this unfortunate incident happened.
They had wanted to take the late singer’s body there for public viewing as fans and fellow artists pay their last respects. However, now the body has been taken to her ancestral home in Bujjuko.
It’s from here that fans and others will view and pray for her. The burial will take place on Wednesday in the same place.
“Our dear sister Evelyn Lagu’s body won’t be taken to the National Theater because it was already booked for the day we planned to take it there. She will now be taken to her home in Bujjuko and fans and the general public can pay their last respects from there. Burial will take place on Wednesday,” said Phina Mugerwa.
It should be noted that the singer passed away at the age of 41 due to kidney failure. She had been in and out of hospital for the past 4 years.
She leaves behind a son who had even volunteered to give her a kidney but his father blocked him. Lagu has not only been a singer but an actress too and appeared in several local plays and films.
Furthermore, she grew up in Bujjuko where she lived with her paternal auntie. This is because her parents passed away when she was still very young. She studied at Agha Khan and St Peters in Bujjuko.
