Why Is Internet So Slow Yet So Expensive?, Kasuku And Kayima

Radio and TV personalities, Kasuku and Kayima have expressed their displeasure regarding the speed of internet in Uganda. The two said this while on their morning show, Twezimbe on Spark TV.

Shafik Kayima was wondering why it takes so long just to watch a video, and also upload a video on the internet. He says you have to wait for so long especially if the video is very huge.

The most annoying thing to them is despite the poor quality of internet, it is so expensive. On top of all this, it runs so fast. Kasuku called out UCC to do something about this.

Uganda Communication Commission is responsible for the internet. Kasuku said it is annoying watching UCC engage in less relevant areas yet this is very crucial. So many people use the internet for various reasons.

The two are just part of the so many that have complained about the internet but nothing has been done.

Much as we no longer have the OTT, it’s as though things just got worse. You can not do anything with 100mbs.

The tax is now directly removed from the data and not separately like previously. The question is, until when will people complain before government does something?

Meanwhile, Kasuku and Kayima also talked about the closure of Facebook saying it is now irrelevant.

According to him, Museveni just wanted to prove a point to his opposers but at the expense of those who support him as well.

It should be noted that Facebook has been locked since last year during the national election. In all his speeches, Museveni doesn’t show signs of opening Facebook anytime soon.
