Archie’s birth was registered on May 17, 2019, after he was born on May 6. However, a month later, on June 6, the mother’s name was changed.
Previously, it was thought to be a nod to Princess Diana with her preferred name, ‘Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales’.
However, Meghan Markle, through a spokesman, has come out to claim that the change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by the palace. She also said through the spokesman that it was ‘offensive’ to suggest she wanted to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate.
It currently remains unclear why exactly they changed the birth certificate.
‘’The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials. This was not a request by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex nor the Duke of Sussex,’’ the spokesman said to reporters.
The spokesman said to see the UK tabloid to suggest that Meghan would want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate would be laughable if it wasn’t offensive.
