The time to change this could be now, especially for a better generation to come. If we are all human, it means at some point we miss the mark whether intentionally or not. The best thing to do is to say sorry when one is wrong regardless of age and place in society.
You can’t teach what you can’t do, it’s really hard. Isn’t it funny though how parents want to have children that are apologetic but they have failed to portray it? Children always learn more from what they see than what you tell them.
If at all we want a generation that is not proud, it must start with us. Otherwise, we have no right demanding for things we ourselves have failed to achieve. It is not fair.
Every time, a parent apologizes when they do wrong, you are teaching your children to take responsibility for their actions. When they grow up, it will not be hard for them to apologize when they are wrong because it will be an inbuilt character.
It takes away the ego and excuses from children who will be tomorrow’s husbands and wives, not to say parents too.
You lose nothing as a parent when you say sorry to your child if you wrong them. Instead, you are building a responsible generation that can own up to their mistakes.
In any case, this helps you more as a parent because if they wrong you, it will be easy to say sorry without even forcing them. There is nothing like elders don’t make mistakes, that is insane and it should change.
