Apparently, it has become so easy for one to become a celebrity in Uganda these days compared to the old days. This is brought about by the use of social media. Once some one trends on any social media platforms, even media houses will start looking for him or her.
Not only media houses, Musicians make songs out of that person. They even end up using them in videos to make their songs go viral.
People always expect these social media celebrities to expand their brands and keep on market. However, that never really happens.
As one of the people that has made these overnight celebrities through his YouTube, SB4 media has given reasons why they don’t last. According to SB4 media, Ugandans are very impatient.
When you bring up the person they expect a huge transformation in just 48 hours. However, when it is not given, they move on to another person.
SB4 media said if some of these people were given time, they would be very huge. They would make lots of money from different brands.
“Ugandans are very impatient, and this applies to both the overnight celebrity and his overnight fans. When they rise to fame and you offer to support, Ugandans expect you to turn their life around in 48 hours,” SB4 media said.
It should be noted that some overnight celebrities come out to complain on how they were treated, dumped and forgotten about.
