“Life is what you make it, and that’s how I live my life,’’ are the first words of wisdom singer Winnie Nwagi shared on Sunday night. She made these remarks at the premiere of the Tusker Malt Conversations, a virtual video series.
It went live for the first time on Sunday evening and had their first host to be Winnie Nwagi. She took center stage, performing beautiful acoustic versions of some of her best hits and revealing their inspirations.
Winnie Nwagi kicks off her set with the melodic song ‘’Show Me’’, along with others like ‘’Mataala,’’ ‘’Musawo.’’ These were interspersed with bits and snippets enlightening her audience about her persona and music.
The new show is about music and conversations with the audience, so Winnie does not shy away from topics that are sensitive.
Such topics include the controversial incident between her and her house help, revealing how there’s always two sides of the story.
‘’I will never forget that saga till the day I die. People marked me as a bad person because of the maid. But, people shouldn’t talk about things that they don’t know. Those people (maids) are ungrateful. Of course, there are good ones, but if you land on a bad one, you should just part ways… what I’m trying to say is, be kind. Be kind,’’ she tells those who rush to judge.
Nwagi’s episode is a charmingly candid and honest Conversations connecting her to her audiences. She also dives into the topic of thick women in showbiz and how she won over her insecurities.
She goes on to praise thick women out there who unapologetically love their bodies and are living their best versions.
