The Bill that seeks to lift the age limit required for running for presidency is now before the legal and parliamentary affairs committee for scrutiny.

Speaking to media at Parliament on Wednesday, the legislator said come rain come sunshine he will not withdraw the bill as it is good for the country.

Magyezi also said its unfortunate that members of the public have started harassing legislators over the Bill yet it is uncalled for.

He categorically refuted claims of being bribed with over Shs600m to move the controversial Bill.

Magyezi also demanded that specific members on the legal and parliamentary affairs committee who have already made their position regarding the Bill recuse themselves as they are likely to write a biased report.

“Fair hearing demands that I get independence of the committee, I have the right to express my reservations about the members,” he said.

Parliament’s Legal committee is planning to spend Shs 715 million during the consultations of the same Bill. Among other members on the committee that have made their position known on the matter include; Jackson Kafunzi who seconded Magyezi’s motion, Ibrahim ssemujju Nganda, medard Lubega Ssegona, Wilfed Nuwagaba, Mohammad Nsereko and  Monica Amonding who have vehemently vowed to crash the Bill.
