Musician Ykee Benda seems to have triggered nerves amongst sympathizers of NUP president, Bobi Wine. The Firebase boss during Hon Kato Lubwama’s funeral urged musicians not to be like beggars and demand what is rightfully theirs.
Taking to his Twitter page, Ykee Benda trashed the notion that they are beggars. The Musicians Federation yesterday revealed that they had partnered with a law firm to foster their policies.
The Superman singer said that this is such a strong and bold move. And if they were beggars like some people are leading others to believe, they wouldn’t be hiring lawyers. The singer further said that with time, the real fraudsters shall be revealed.
“And they want to convince the country we are just beggers …. What do beggers need lawyers for ??? …… I told you in time muja kumanya ani mufele nataali ..Thank you President and Team.”
This seems to have opened up a can of worms. Social media users especially Bobi Wine diehards started attacking him right away. They reminded him how their leader was true in his remarks about the Federation.
Eddie Mutwe, Bobi Wine’s bodyguard also joined the matter. Mutwe said that although the Malaika singer is intelligent, he ought to know that even beggars are protected by law.
The only difference according to Eddie Mutwe is that these musicians are VIP beggars.
Another singer Allan Toniks joined in on the debate. Furious, he lashed out at Bobi Wine’s bodyguard and advised his camp to stop politicizing everything. He wondered why they don’t do research before speaking and also told them to stay in their lane.
