Ykee Benda Warns Ugandan Musicians Against Performing In Saudi Arabia

Mpaka Records boss and singer Ykee Benda has warned Ugandan musicians against performing in Saudi Arabia. He said they should learn that the promoters in those areas are so jealous of each other and they are always leading artistes into problems.

He made this statement following the arrest of upcoming artist Fik Gaza who went to perform there for the first time and was immediately arrested.

Different artists have been going to Arab countries to perform and make some money. However, it hasn’t been easy ever since Beenie Gunter was arrested.

He spent there some weeks and most of the people were accusing him of being the one in the wrong by involving himself in a fight that he wasn’t supposed to be in.

According to Ykee Benda, artists are usually scammed when going to Saudi Arabia. They are assured of security but when they get there, there is nothing like security.

He said that is what happened to him, some of the promoters tried to call police on him but he was bright enough to leave before the police arrived. He told artists to be vigilant and not go to Saudi Arabia to perform no matter how poor they are.

“I want to ask Ugandan artists to stop going to perform in Saudi Arabia. Promoters there are very jealous and stupid,” he said.
