Former Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has said that the best version of him is about to be seen. This is after the 29-year-old signed for the Gunners on a season-long loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.
Speaking after inking his contract, the English international revealed that he’s excited to get going at the North London club.
He said that what the club stands for and the hunger in the group on what they are trying to achieve has already sent shivers down his spine.
“You’re about to see the best of me. Joining Arsenal is really an unbelievable feeling. I’m buzzing. This is a perfect fit for me! You see the journey the boys are on, and the hunger, and I keep saying again, togetherness is something I’m looking to be part of,” said the four-time Premier League winner.
Raheem Sterling has endured a torrid time at Stanford Bridge ever since signing for Chelsea from Manchester City in July 2022. Sterling has also played for Liverpool and worked with Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta.
This was while he was still Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the blue side of Manchester. The Spaniard is said to have been crucial in getting this deal over the line.
Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca had made it clear to the winger that he’s not part of his plans for this season. In case he had stayed at the Bridge. Other notable transfer deadline deals saw Jadon Sancho join Chelsea from Man U.
Reiss Nelson joined Fulham on loan from Arsenal. Eddie Nketiah joined Crystal Palace from the Gunners on a permanent deal while United managed to sign Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Urgate.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney left Europe to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli. Osimhen’s deal to Chelsea collapsed and he won’t be playing for Napoli till January if no club signs him in the remaining three days. It’s only in England that the transfer window ended last night.
