He pointed out that this is wrong because the public needs results and accountability. To the very least, Canary says as the public and media, they have all rights to demand accountability because the political party leaders use public funds.
“Every political party that seeks power or participates in any process in search for democracy, should be open to criticism. In fact, these political parties use public funds, now this even gives us a right as citizens, as media to question what they do, and how they do it. If you want to keep those in power under check, who will check you? And why do you expect sympathy from the public, at all times?”
However, some members of the public didn’t like this comment specifically those in the opposition. They accused him of being subjective in such matters so he doesn’t qualify to criticize the different political parties.
“Then who else deserves tough questions than the government in power?🤔 N @CanaryMugume, ask yourself if u have been asking the right question to the right people as a journalist,” a one certified Buoy said.
“No one is above criticism and that includes the media. Some media people seem to think that they have the right to criticize but that no one must criticize them, including in response to their own criticism. Freedom of expression is for everyone!!” a one Kakeeto James said.
