The Commonwealth Secretariat launched the network called The Commonwealth Youth for Sustainable Urbanisation (CYSU) network.
It will use an evidence-based approach and work collaboratively. With this, it will address challenges facing the economy, trade, health, employment in cities, and human settlements throughout the Commonwealth.
Through the programme, CYSU is the 13th youth network to exist. Additionally, these networks cover various issues and empower those aged 18-29 with support from the Commonwealth Secretariat. This helps them raise their voices through opportunities to shape their desires.
The launch of CYSU happens to coincide with a meeting of a newly formed Clean and Sustainable Energy Action Group called Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition (CSET).
In addition, the agenda of the two is to scale up youth-led solutions for clean and sustainable energy. And also to create a platform for engaging young people.
The profiling of both groups came on the second day of the Commonwealth Youth Forum. Here, 350 young leaders had come together to share ideas and generate recommendations for improving youth prospects. Furthermore, they expect to forward them to the Heads of Government meeting on Saturday.
Conclusively, the CYSU network is the result of a commitment to increased involvement of young people in development reached at the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) meeting in London.
