Singer Ziza Bafana has expressed his disappointment in his friend and singer Eddy Kenzo who is the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation(UNMF). Kenzo in a previous interview talked about the progress of the federation and about its SACCO. He said that most musicians are now activists.
They don’t have any hit songs and the only way to appease the public is going political; even when unnecessary.
The Big Talent boss also denied reports from some singers who claim to not have received money from the federation. He said that they got the money and they even signed for it These singers include Nina Roz and Bafana.
However, Bafana said that he didn’t know that the money he got was from the Federation’s SACCO otherwise he would have rejected it. Besides, it was pocket change and he only asked his fellows because he did not have enough school fees for his kids.
“I did not get money from SACCO. The only money I got was from my friends to help me and since I knew Kenzo could help he’s the one I talked to. It was to top up my kids’ school fees just.”
On top of that, the BET Award winner has failed to achieve what was the main target of the federation being formed.
This was the copyright law which would give musicians wealth. This is unlike the peanuts that the government is trying to give them just to sway them away from their aim.
The Pomini singer however said that he doesn’t blame Kenzo for failing. This is because there have been others before him fighting for the same thing but it hasn’t been successful.
The dancehall singer nonetheless said that the money he got couldn’t do anything beneficial for him such as shooting a music video or even doing a promotion.
