The 12 heads of states and delegates are set to grace the swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is the president-elect as declared by the electoral commission in January.
Those who confirmed attendance are expected to fly into the country today. They include the President of the Republic of Guinea, Alpha Condé, the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambduzo Mnangagwa. Others are, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, the President of Burundi, General Évariste Ndayishimiye, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit among others. The Presidential press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi shared the list with the press yesterday.
AUC Chairperson, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat and Prime Minister of Gabon, Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda will also grace the event.
Others are the Russian Federation Presidential Representative, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek. And then the Minister of Combatants of Mozambique, Jaime Neto, and the EAC SG.
Other dignitaries expected include IGAD ES, the Federal Republic of Nigeria Vice President, Oluyemi Oluleke “Yemi” Osinbajo. And then the International Conference on Great Lakes Region ES and the Republic of South Africa Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.
This list however left some people’s tongues wagging. Heads of State from the neighbouring countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda are not on the list. Their representatives are also missing.
President Museveni will swear in on Wednesday 12th May 2021, for his 6th term after winning the January 14th 2021 election.
