Few residents revealed that Mbanda is the first person to construct such a house in her village Emaphephetheni, Ndwedwe. In an interview with briefly.co.za, she said it has always been her dream to make her parents happy.
She stated that whoever stayed in a house built with blocks in her rural village was seen as a wealthy person. Mbanda therefore had a motive to get her parents out of falling muddy houses after experiencing a lot.
She recalled that one of the muddy houses collapsed on them a few years ago.
“I wanted to thank them. They’ve been through a lot. There are things they could have done, but they didn’t because they cared for me. I always thought maybe things could have easier for them if they did not have me. So there was no way I could forget them for all the sacrifices they made to make sure my future is bright,” she said.
How much she spent;
From sleeping in self-confused tiny muddy houses, her parents now sleep in a large bedroom directly connected to a bathroom. The thankful Mbanda woman said she spent over Ugx66 millions on the mansion though she wanted to spend more on her parent’s well-being.
“Doing something like this for your parents is a lifetime gift and a lifetime blessing. I want to say to my parents, thank you so much. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for them,” added Hlelile.
The celebrated young lady encouraged other youngsters to always support their parents as a sign of appreciation.
“It is possible. It can be done. I didn’t take any loan. I had to sweat to be able to gift my parents with their new house. I’ve been saving since 2017. As much as I wanted to do things for myself, I had to make a sacrifice and do this for my parents to thank them. I always had this wish to make them happy and proud,” said Hlelile.
