Makindye Magistrate court has declared guilty and sentenced 9 people who were arrested together with a minister in South Sudan for smoking Shisha and cigarettes in public places.

Late last week, Police organized an operation which was specifically targeting shisha and cigarette smokers in public places and seized several people including a minister of South Sudan during the night at some of Kampala’s popular bars such as Forest bar, De Posh and Savannah bar, all located around Kabalagala and Muyenga suburbs.
After identifying himself, South Sudan minister was finally released by police and the rest of the detainees were called in courts of judicature and pleaded guilty to charges of smoking in public places.
Madam Mbabazi Edith, a grade one magistrate warned the suspects against being involved in public smoking again, if not they will face the anger of law, according to Nile Post.
