Airtel Uganda has announced addition of International money transfer services on its Airtel money platform to ease the remittance of money by its customers at home and across the globe.
With the new service airtel customers will conveniently, safely and instantly send funds across borders to Tanzania and Malawi at most competitive rates.
“the service we are launching is not only simple, secure and instant but also stands to ease the convince with which millions of people are able to send and receive money from their loved ones abroad driving financial inclusion while deepening social networks among friends and family, “VG Semasekhar, Airtel Uganda Managing Director said.
He stressed that airtel money international transfer service conforms to global anti money laundering policies enhancing international trade and regional integration.
” Uganda is growing economy that requires simplified ways of doing business at convenient and Affordable rates. International transfer services will Compliment eCommerce that we have facilitated through numerous Airtel data offerings,” Semasekhar explained.
State minister fir foreign affairs Henry Okello oryem welcomed the service as not only a solution that will deepen financial inclusion in Uganda but also boost regional Integration agenda.
According to statistics remittances to sub-Saharan Africa grew neatly 10 percent to reach 46bilion dollars in 2018 as per world Bank estimates.
