The gunshots and blasts which were heard at the hotel compound was an attack from Somalian based Islamist group, Al-Shabab which later declared that they were behind the attack.
Although the Kenyan government said it had secured all buildings on Tuesday evening, more gunshots have been heard since then.
Nearby sources and witnesses said at least five people including a US citizen have been killed on spot at the restaurant in DusitD2 hotel, while the sixth person died of severe injuries in the hospital.
However, the total number of those who have died is not yet confirmed, but one of the workers in the mortuary told Reuters that it is fifteen.
