These men apparently trailed the journalist for over 40 minutes.
According to his narration, there were three in the car and one of them was armed. Fortunately for them, the public was quick to intervene in the situation and come to the journalist’s aid.
Additionally, Kyamagero said that the security forces were also quick to intervene in the situation. The situation was diffused before things could escalate.
One of these men was apprehended by the people and handed over to the Police. Kyamagero said that what shocked him was that these men knew him by name.
Read his statement below;
“Grateful for the residents of Kikulu Zone who stood by my wife and I when we encountered a frightening situation today. A car trailed us for over 40 minutes with three men inside, one-armed. Despite the danger, we had to confront these men who knew me by both names. These men were driving a car with fake number plates. Thanks to the swift action of the police, the situation was diffused before escalating further. Their professionalism and courage were commendable, ensuring our safety and apprehending one of the suspects.”
It should be noted that a lot of people have lost their lives in such incidents. Big-name people such as the late Muhammad Kirumira, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, and Joan Kagezi among others have all been gunned down by motorists trailing them.
Just last year, popular social media blogger Isma Olaxess was also killed in such a way. A recent such murder was of Daniel Bbosa Lwomwa, a traditional leader in Buganda Kingdom. It’s, therefore, always good for people to be so vigilant and alert all the time.
