Residents of Bupala Village, Buwunga Sub-County in Bugiri District woke up in shock after landing on a body of a woman suspected to have been killed by her husband identified as Bakaleka Patrick. The suspect was later clobbered to death by angry mob.
According to Mr Mulabi Benard, a detective attached to Bugiri police station, Mr Bakaleka,60, is alleged to have battered his 50 year old wife identified as Nakaweesa Teddy to death on Monday morning before he was killed by angry mob.
Ms Nakaweesa’s nephew identified as Mr Owori Micheal said that he met Mr Bakaleka smoking cigarette at the shop around 8am and said he had come to buy a rope.
He was saturated in blood, which forced me to ask if he had got injured, but his response was rude. I tried to ask him if auntie was fine and he responded affirmatively, ‘he said.
But when I demanded going with him to their home to see whether everything was okay, he refused, saying no one should appear there, but I insisted while following him to the house though he locked me out,’Mr Owori narrated.
However, I managed to force my way into the house and found Mr Bakaleka nervously trying to tie a rope around his neck purposely to commit suicide, whereas the deceased’s body was at the side lying in pool of blood.
Mr Owori immediately raised an alarm which dragged many residents to the scene. Angry mob killed him before police arrived at around 9am.
The bodies were taken to Bugiri Hospital for autopsy before they hand them over to the relatives for interment as police in Bugiri has launches investigations into the incident.
