Apostle Grace Lubega Roasted By Netizens For Demonifying Indigenous Names

Phaneroo Ministries lead pastor, Apostle Grace Lubega has come under intense criticism on social media by netizens. This was after he demonized some indigenous African names.

Lubega through one of his sermons that has found its way to social media said that some local names carry evil spells.

He pointed out some names such as Ndawula which he said that this local name belongs to a local traditional god. And when a child is given such a name, they are put in harm’s way because their life is cursed before it comes.

Apparently,  just the instance of someone calling out the person with this name, the evil spirits always arise to torment them. Apart from living tormented lives, such people barely have long lives. He therefore urged parents to be careful when naming their children.

He stated;

“Some of the names you name your children carry curses with them. Imagine naming your child Ndawula. This is a very evil name that carries demons with it. Such people always live troubled lives and besides that, they rarely live long lives. Therefore be careful what you name your child,”

This was deemed a controversial opinion by many on social media and they quickly jumped in to ‘put him in his place.

Some pointed out that his own foreign name ‘Grace’ is from Latin meaning gods of fertility. Therefore foreign names he thinks are righteous too are not.

They are derived from foreign gods and therefore have no big difference with the local ones. However, the Pastor had a backup of his followers on the platform. These claimed that their leader is never wrong and he’s faultless. Therefore whatever he said is correct.
