Barbie was in the company of Hon Brenda Nabukeenya the woman MP of Luweero district, Hon Kirumira Hassan Lukalidde, MP Katikamu South and Hon Sekabira Denis, MP Katikamu North.
The group met teen mothers at the district headquarters and handed over six delivery beds at Kasana hospital.
They also handed over one hundred packs of reusable sanitary pads, 60 litres of ultrasound gel, 60 litres of hand sanitizer, 60 litres of liquid soap and baby clothes.
The group thereafter met a number of other young mothers at Nakikonge primary school.
They gave them basins, sacks of posho, baby clothes, reusable sanitary pads and mama kits. The group then visited two homes and donated other few things to the teen mothers there.
They additionally took a tour of Nakikonge health center IV. This is where they donated one delivery bed and a number of mama kits.
Barbie took to her Facebook page to announce the news and thank the NUP MPs in that region.
“I would like to deeply appreciate the four MPs and the NUP leadership for making these charity activities possible. We have agreed that to end the challenge of the increasing number of teen mothers in Luweero, we have to carry out a number of many other community inclusive activities to engage the children, parents, community members and all other leaders.” Barbie said.
She added that their aim is to identify, visit these mothers, donate and skill them in the near future.
Barbie further said that statistics from Kasana hospital show an alarming rise in the number of teenage pregnancies.
