Dr. Acheng Ruth, minister of health announced that gyms, Cinemas, and Massage Parlours can resume work. Unfortunately, even this time round, bars still remained closed. There are various reasons why bars are still under lockdown even amidst so much opposition from the people.
Obviously most people even after that announcement were still very unhappy with bars still having the padlocks on.
Looking into a lot of things, bars opening would change a lot of things when it comes to SOPs in regards to Covid 19. Social distance would become a myth, not that it hasn’t but it would be worse with bars open.
Its never easy to control people that are drunk. We can’t even say people will not get drunk, that is only possible for a few that means most people won’t be sober enough to even remember there is coronavirus.
Curfew time may also have to be checked if bars are to start operating. People go to bars in the evening and of course we can’t say by 9pm they will be home. This means that either curfew time may increase or totally removed to favor bar businesses.
If curfew time is stays at 9pm, then the authorities must tighten and intentionally keep it that way.
The odds are so many about the opening of drinking places but it can be looked into. Most of the neighboring countries opened their bars. For example Kenya opened bars and retained curfew time.
Otherwise most of the bar workers are in a very poor state because they have not been working since March, 2020. We can only hope for the best but the quickest way out of this is a vaccine.
