Besigye Is The Opposition’s Problem – Andrew Mwenda

Veteran journalist and political analyst Andrew Mwenda has branded former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president, Dr Col Kiiza Besigye as the biggest problem for the country’s opposition.

According to Mwenda, the opposition needs to do away with him. This is because Ugandans trust him so much and yet he’s the same person who tells citizens that an election can’t oust Museveni.

Mwenda further said that what Besigye does is just playing into the hands of Museveni. The President doesn’t want the people to vote and just stay home which is dangerous for the Opposition.

“The biggest problem for the Opposition is Dr. Besigye. Ugandans trust Besigye very much but this same Besigye tells Ugandans that an election can’t remove Museveni. That’s what Museveni wants. People stay at home and that’s very dangerous for the Opposition.”

Mwenda who identifies as an ardent supporter of Muhoozi Kainerugaba also said that he believes one of the Musevenis won’t appear on the ballot come 2026.

This is because the leader of the MK movement enjoys a robust relationship with his father. He therefore can’t dare stand against him.

Furthermore, The Independent Magazine CEO clarified about the origins of the MK movement.

Apparently it was started by young people from different political parties. These look up to Muhoozi as the one to deliver the idea of a peaceful transition.
