Blacks Power is currently immersed in an early dilemma on their technical bench after playing only two matches in the betPawa Big League. The side from Lira was demoted from the Uganda Premier League after only a season. They were hoping to bounce back immediately.
Francis Mugerwa had been named the team’s head coach but he told reporters that he has been away from the team.
The club’s chief executive officer Edison Sabasaba confirmed the reports and said that the coach “asked for leave to handle some private issues”. That leaves the second assistant, John Ongodia, in charge.
Their opponent Jinja North will hope to capitalise on Blacks Power’s glitches as they seek their first win under coach Sadiq Ssempijja.
The coach was credited for promoting Mbarara City last season but has struggled to set the team rolling. He has also lost to Police FC and drew away to Booma.
Ssempijja is, however, optimistic that his team will record their first win.
“The team is playing well but the results haven’t started flowing yet. We have made some adjustments in training to handle that before our game in Lira,” the soft-spoken coach said.
The match will kick off at 4 PM at the Akii Bua Stadium in Lira today.
