Western Uganda musician Omega 256, has said that singer and politician Bobi Wine has not helped the music industry in anything. Apparently, she said that she can’t point to one achievement of the Firebase boss towards the music industry.
This was in relation to the Nalumansi singer’s comments made a few weeks back at the late Kato Lubwama’s burial. These caused quite a storm in the country and turned the music industry upside down.
According to the Ndera singer, musicians are rightfully asking what belongs to them from the government. They are not begging as Kyagulanyi put it.
Furthermore, she added that Bobi Wine said that he’s not broke. However, he ought to know that not every musician is rich. Therefore, they should be left alone to fight their battles.
On top of that, the Kamwokya protégé should also know that he’s a fellow musician when talking to them and not a politician. Therefore, he should not make commanding remarks.
“What has Bobi Wine helped the music industry? I for one can’t point out any of his contributions to the industry. He clearly stated that he was not a ‘yala man.’ However, he should know that not all of us are rich. We are therefore trying to demand for what is rightfully ours.”
“This, therefore, doesn’t make us beggars. As someone who has been in the industry, he knows the truth. He should stop making commanding remarks because he’s a fellow musician,” said Omega 256.
On top of that, she added that the only singer she’s ever heard talking about copyright is Dr Hilderman and not Bobi Wine.
