Bobi Wine first of all thanked the unity East Africa has been exhibiting against oppression even before independence. According to him, it’s this unity that helped East Africa gain independence.
“It is such unity that helped them regain independence from colonialists starting with Tanzania in 1961, Uganda in 1962, and Kenya in 1963.” Kyagulanyi said.
He stated that it is this same unity that Tanzanians used during the 1970s to help Uganda in fighting the government of Idi Amin. He, therefore, appealed to them to bring back the same energy.
Bobi Wine empathized with CHADEMA’s president over all the challenges he has been through trying to fight for freedom.
Chairman Freeman Mbowe was released just recently after spending 7 months in jail on politically-motivated terrorism charges. His deputy and 2020 presidential flag bearer, Tundu Mughwai Lissu, is still in exile after surviving an attempted assassination.
“I congratulated our CHADEMA comrades upon the gains they have registered in their struggle so far, and encouraged them to soldier on until they achieve true freedom,” he added.
The politician has not given his quest to remove President Museveni who he sees as a dictator. Much as elections in 2021 showed otherwise, he believes he has the support of the people.
