The politician’s firstborn son Solomon aired some questionable remarks about the bill. He said that nobody really cares about what the LGBTQ do. Government should therefore concentrate its efforts on providing better basic social services.
“Nobody cares what homosexuals are doing. Fix the roads, fix the hospitals, fix the schools for God’s sake,” – Bobi Wine‘s son Solomon Kampala Kyagulanyi on the new anti-LGBTQ law.
At a time when the majority of Ugandans are in support of the bill, they felt this was showing support for the LGBTQ. Many since then started calling out the singer and politician to clarify his son’s opinions.
When the former presidential candidate decided to talk about the issue, he didn’t differ much from his son.
He criticized the timing of the bill citing the time too the one of 2013 was drafted. According to Bobi Wine, freeing political prisoners, stopping extrajudicial killings, prosecuting the corrupt and putting an end to military rule is what is needed.
“In 2013, our Parliament called the Anti-homosexuality Bill a Christmas gift. Now they’re calling it an Easter gift! The TRUE GIFT is to #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners, end extra-judicial killings & abduction. Prosecute those stealing from the poor and put an end to military rule!,” the former Kyadondo east Member of Parliament said.
Opinions flooded his comment section with quite a number calling him out over this issue. Many want him to come out and give a firm stand over the sensitive issue.
