Boda Boda Accident Kills Three, Injures One In Kween

At least three people died on the spot and another sustained critical injuries following a boda boda accident in Kween District on Wednesday morning.

The 5:30 am boda boda accident was registered at Atari cell, Kaptoyoy Sub County. This is along the Kapchorwa-Suam Highway in Kween District, eastern Uganda.

According to Sipi Region Police Spokesperson Mr Fred Chesang, it is alleged that a boda boda laden with three passengers from Kapchorwa to Kween District veered off the road.

This was due to alleged speeding and rammed into a solar-street light stand. Three were killed on the spot leaving another in critical condition.

“We are still investigating but our preliminary report indicates that the victims were from one of the social places in Kapchorwa,” Mr Chesang told journalists on Wednesday.

The identities of the deceased still remain unknown. They didn’t possess any identification documents at the time of the accident.

Mr Chesang said the trio bodies were conveyed to Kapchorwa Hospital mortuary for postmortem. Police also took the injured for treatment at the same facility.

Boda boda accidents have claimed the lives of many in recent years. Police have always advised motorists to follow all regulations and ride carefully.
