The specifics on the attack are a little hazy but reports say the attack happened in a Pentecostal church in North Kivu province.
After the bomb blast, authorities arrested a Kenyan at the border between Uganda and DR Congo. Although the real perpetrator behind the attack is still at large, authorities are yet to determine the real motive behind this attack.
However, though, it had been earlier reported that the blast had claimed 16 lives and injured 20. But this has since been corrected following some investigation into the incident.
The North Kivu province has particularly been experiencing insecurity recently along with other provinces in DR Congo.
Some of these insecurities were caused by the ADF rebels who have been attacking and ceasing villages. However, the UPDF and DRC’s authorities have in the past fought back to bring back peace in these areas.
