Sheebah wasn’t the first female singer to face this challenge. Some people, however, blame this on the ‘indecent dressing code’ of these musicians. The Katikkiro said that this is a very lame excuse for someone to do such an act.
He questioned whether these culprits do the same things to their sisters when they find them in skimpy clothes. Mr. Mayiga also disagreed with the notion of undressing women in skimpy clothes to embarrass them.
“Dress code shouldn’t be an excuse at all by these culprits who perpetrate these shameful acts. Do these people mean that they try to touch their sisters inappropriately when they find them in miniskirts?
I for one have always disagreed with the notion of undressing women in public. So you who has undressed her and her, who is promoting nudity in public,” the Katikkiro wondered.
He however advised musicians to respect their profession. This is because it’s a job like others and it is where they derive their finances.
As he gears to celebrate 9 years in office at the climax of his reign, the Katikkiro thanked musicians who have been largely part of his career. He further said that the likes of Mesach Ssemakula have been able to put the Buganda message into songs. Others like Princess Amirah have been able to promote the Luganda language through their songs.
Katikkiro Mayiga who is a common face among the entertainment circles threw some light on the UMA elections. He said that he knows Saha and Cindy are competing against each other. However, he does t know the motive of UMA and its use. He advised artists to vote for someone that respects their job.
