Buganda Masaza Cup Moves Onto Semi-Finals

The defending champions Buddu Ssaza, along with Ssingo, Busiro and Bulemeezi have gone through to the semi-finals of the 2022 Buganda Masaza Cup tournament.

This came after a successful return of matches of the quarter finals played at different play grounds.

Record champions Gomba were eliminated by Busiro 5-1 on aggregate. After winning the first leg at the Kabulasoke PTC playground, Busiro made the grade with a 3-0 home win at the Ssentema playground.

Isaac Ofoyrwoth, Jimmy Kalema and Joel Sserunjogi all scored in the 59th, 67th and 81st minutes respectively.

2021 finalists Buwekula failed to make it through the quarter finals after falling to Bulemeezi. Bulemeezi won the first leg 1-0 with the return leg ending in a stalemate, 1-1.

This return leg which took place in Mubende had Bulemeezi in the driver’s seat in the 38th by Fazil Tumwine. Buwekula made amends and found the equalizer through Michael Abura in the 55th minute.

Buddu went through after defeating three time winners Mawokota on 1-0 aggregate. Ssingo, one man short, drew against Kyaggwe in a goalless bout at the Mityana Ssaza ground.

Ssingo’s captain Amuli Mukasa received a red card in the 10th minute. Ssingo qualified 1-0 on aggregate since they had won the first leg at the Nakisunga ssaza playground.

The tournament is jointly sponsored by Airtel Uganda, Centenary Bank, UNAIDS, CBS Radio and BBS Telefaina. Bons.

  2. Busiro advanced 5-1 on aggregate
  3. Buwekula 1-1 Bulemeezi
  4. Bulemeezi advanced 2-1 on aggregate
  5. Mawokota 0-0 Buddu
  6. Buddu advanced 1-0 on aggregate
  7. Ssingo 0-0 Kyaggwe
  8. Ssingo advanced 1-0 on aggregate
