The Boom party singer is the recognized president of Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) that heads all entertainers in the country.
However, the Leone Island boss flanked by a number of big musicians came up with a new group known as the Ugandan Musicians Federation.
Chameleone while addressing journalists said that the other groups could still exist but this is the father of all music groups in the country.
He went ahead to thank those who had entrusted him with this role and he promised to fulfill it.
“I want to thank everyone that decided to elect me the president of all musicians in Uganda. I want to assure that our objectives if promoting Ugandan music beyond borders will be achieved. Had we started this federation 15 years ago we would be far by now.” Chameleone said.
He added that he was the founder of UMA 15 years ago and therefore wasn’t going to fight it and other groups.
The Badilisha instead called them to join him and promote Ugandan music.
Pallaso who is Chameleone’s brother was also available during the inaugural ceremony of the new party and said there objectives were based on pure love for the industry.
He reechoed his brother’s word by calling other groups to join them.
“We are not here to fight any group. That’s why we are calling upon all those associations to come and join us. There are many associations that have lost track and therefore need merging. For example, an artist might have joined the upcoming musicians association and yet he’s no longer one.” Pallaso said.
Apparently, a number of big musicians such as Sophie Nantongo, Abdu Mulaasi, Catherine Kusasira, Pallaso, Fefe Busi , Ziza Bafana, Kabako were among those that endorsed Chameleon.
The federation is something that has all along been in the works.
However, many people allege that Salim Saleh’s plan to give money to entertainers is what is bringing up all these factions.
