He immediately denounced NUP and revealed that he had gone back to the NRM. He then added that he was using the likes of NUP and DP to further his political career.
The Leone Island boss said that he was treated with disrespect while in NUP hence deciding to quit the party.
The Owakabi singer said that getting to Bobi Wine was a hustle and bustle and nearly impossible. He also said that after Latif Ssebagala declining to run on the lord mayoral NUP ticket, they still shunned Chameleone.
They expected that after Lattif Ssebagala returning back the card, they would give it to Chameleone since he had been in the vetting.
To his disappointment, they instead gave the card to Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala who was not even in NUP by then.
“Every sane Ugandan knows what they did to me in NUP. I joined that party alongside my brother Bobi Wine and his people power movement to fight for the rights of Ugandans. However getting to Bobi Wine in Kamwokya was almost impossible. After Latif returning the mayoral ticket, they refused to front me. So, how can you tell me to love a god who doesn’t love me and leave the devil that I know very well loves me,” Chameleone said.
Chameleone’s move however didn’t surprise many because it has been a characteristic of his long illustrious career.
It was even something that NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu mentioned to him when Chameleone visited the former in Magere.
