Customers were unable to access the services and took to different avenues to complain. Most of these had fears that maybe the platform had somehow dubiously stolen their monies.
“@chippercashapp, I tried to login to my chipper cash account and instead of logging me in it’s showing me as a new unregistered account. What is wrong???? I can’t log into my account and I can’t access my,” one customers of the service said.
“Please why did my chipper cash log me out. I tried to make a transfer there it’s telling me to log in. I tried and it start acting like I’m a new user please sort this out please,” another said.
Others started wondering how its ambassadors such as Spice Diana and Faridah Nakazibwe were going to face people if their monies got stolen.
“I really don’t know how Faridah Nakazibwe and Spice Diana are going to explain to us if chipper cash really stole our money.”
However, this seemed a general problem in all the countries the service is in. Chipper cash consequently came out to provide an update on the issue.
They revealed that they were facing a technical malfunction and requested their customers to be patient with them.
“The Chipper app is currently unavailable as we’re experiencing an unscheduled downtime on some of our products. We kindly request your patience and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
A few hours after this communication, the service returned providing a huge sigh of relief to the customers.
“The Chipper app is back up and running. Thank you for your support and patience.”
This all comes at a time after a popular online sports gaming service known as BLQ Football stole 50 billion shillings from Ugandans.
