This is apparently over news that it’s planning to pour billions of shillings into the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) led by Eddy Kenzo.
According to Cindy, she received credible information that the federation had written to the government to get money. And plans are now underway from the Prime minister’s office and the Gender ministry to make this happen.
The Boom Party singer said that sources further state that the federation will receive Shs 18 billion. 15b shillings will be to “facilitate” the industry.
The other 3 billion is to pay for the luxury they indulge in at their offices in Mutundwe. Therefore, this is unacceptable according to her.
She wondered how the government would choose to listen to an organization that hasn’t been in effect for even a year.
This is despite other groups affiliated with the industry that have been in existence for over 20 years with UMA having 7 years of existence
Furthermore, Cindy Sanyu said that this is unfair and that if the government is planning to release this money, it should be done through the right structures in place. She argued that this money would just help a few individuals and not the entire industry.
Additionally, the singer said that they will be forced to to take non-dialogue means. This is if the government doesn’t listen to them.
The singer also said that all the deeds of the federation are to frustrate UMA. However, it’s not yet confirmed if indeed the Federation is going to receive this money.
For quite some time, Kenzo and his group have been accused of sewing a plot to defraud the government.
On several occasions, they have denied this and said that the federation is working for the general good of the music industry. And more especially the copyright law. They believe its lack is pegging musicians back and denying them what’s rightfully theirs.
