While speaking in a TV interview, she said that this bill would have been signed into law already. However, it got sent to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
This was because the Gender ministry officials weren’t present at the time it was being discussed. However, she’s very confident that very soon this will turn into law.
“The copyright law will be released very soon I’m so confident about that. In fact, it might not take even more than two months before the President signs it into law,” she said.
Additionally, she said that the government will also soon be releasing the money it promised to give Musicians. This will be put in a SACCO where these musicians can apply to get loans.
Apparently, they had asked for 18b shillings. But after much laboring, the government came up with Shs 10b and promised them that the rest would be coming shortly. It could go as high as Shs 30b according to the Minister.
She went ahead to tell all the musicians that this was the only government that had ever thought about them. In fact, it loves them and wants to see them earn from their work.
All those planning to borrow from the SACCO will have to be approved by the Federation’s president, Eddy Kenzo.
