Doreen Nyanjura Calls Out Christian Church For Prioritizing European Names During Baptism

The Kampala deputy lord mayor, Doreen Nyanjura has called out the Uganda Christian Church for prioritizing European names during baptism which initiates one into the Catholic faith.

According to Nyanjura, she doesn’t understand how European colonizers managed to convince our ancestors that it’s only their European names that qualify people to be Christian.

It should be noted that when one tries to baptize their child with only ethnic names, they are quickly chased away for not having a so-called Christian name. Doreen therefore thinks this should change.

“But really how did the whites manage to convince our fore fathers that their English names qualify us to be Christians! Try to go to any church and tell them that you want your child baptized with only local ethnic names. You will be chased for not having a Christian name.”

Furthermore, she went ahead to ask why people believe in a religion manufactured in England. And the concept of hell and heaven if you don’t believe in heaven and hell.

Doreen also asked at what point people should apply the knowledge obtained from school.

“Somehow if you believe in the religion that was manufactured in England, you end up in heaven. If you don’t, you burn in hell. But people, at what level do we put into practice the knowledge we acquired in school and begin questioning certain myths.”

Well, Christianity and other foreign religions definitely wash away everything African/cultural. It’s now a way of living for a big population of many Ugandans/Africans. Anyone that talks ill of foreign introduced religions is seen as an enemy of ‘God.’
