This followed the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Thomas Tayebwa’s comments in regards to the LGBTQS.
Tayebwa while at the Organization of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States Parliamentary Assembly said that Uganda can never pass laws supporting LGBTQS or abortion.
“Homosexuality, abortion are issues that can never be accepted. If people want to be homosexuals or what, we have no problem. Let them have their life but promotion of that in our country can never be accepted!,” said Hon Tayebwa.
This saw Nyanjura wonder why African values are measured by sexuality. She asked if there aren’t any bars from which values in Africa can be measured by. Nyanjura went ahead to wonder why sex is rated so highly.
She then said that its the reason why girls instead of working hard are stressed by marriage partners.
“Why should we always reduce African values to only sexuality? Don’t we have other African values to talk about, values like honesty, integrity and hard-work?? Why is sex rated so highly? No wonder instead of our girls working hard, they are stressed about a marriage partners?”
A number of her followers proceeded to ask her if she wants to disagree with the Deputy Speaker’s remarks.
Some of them asked her if she supports homosexuality. This prompted her to clarify on her views in regards to homosexuality by saying “For the record, I don’t support homosexuality!”
Many said that from Tayebwa’s comments, it’s known that homosexuals and abortions exist in Uganda. However, they can’t be legally approved but can be done behind the vicinity.
