Dr. Lawrence Muganga To Security – You Are Very Unprofessional

Dr. Lawrence Muganga has accused Security officers who arrested him of unprofessionalism. The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) arrested Dr. Lawrence on Thursday for apparent espionage.

A statement released by UPDF confirmed the motive behind the arrest. However, Yesterday evening, Friday, the released him. Pictures of him celebrating his release made rounds on social media.

The footage from the CCTV cameras of Victoria University also showed plain clothed officers manhandling Constable Barbara Nagudi.

She is the female Counter Terrorism police officer they attached Dr. Lawrence Muganga. On his release, he blasted security for the manner in which they made their arrest.

“She is quite an amazing person trying to do her job. You are 10 people, see someone well dressed in her uniform and you choose to fight her! If there is, these people should be subjected to training.”

Consequently, Frank Gashumba, a public figure and friend to Dr. Lawrence Muganga also expressed a number for concerns. According to him, if they can arrest a vice chancellor like that, how about a lay man.

“If they can embarrass and humiliate a vice chancellor of a university in broad day light, what happens if they picked you after midnight? If he committed a crime, why don’t you summon him.”

Meanwhile, the UPDF spokesperson, Brig Flavia Byekwaso in a statement said they arrested Muganga who holds a Canadian passport over cases of espionage and illegal stay in the country.

Apparently, a number of commentators insisted that the proper procedure was summoning him before arrest but not humiliating him.
