Musician Eddy Kenzo who is also the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) has come out to reveal how the billions of money received by his group is being disbursed.
The government a while ago released billions of shillings into the UNMF coffers.
It was revealed that this money went to the Federation’s SACCO. All musicians who are registered with the federation are free to borrow from this SACCO and they are also obligated to pay back this money.
Apparently, different views have risen about this money from both the public and musicians.
According to Kenzo, some musicians have responded well and are borrowing as they pay back. However, others are yet to pay back this money. He’s however optimistic they will fulfill their obligations.
“Musicians are already borrowing from the Federation and paying back. Some however borrow and when it comes to paying back, they start playing hide and seek. I, however, believe they will pay and won’t force us to use an iron hand to recoup this money,” the Big Talent boss said.
Meanwhile, Kenzo also talked about the current songs that are all over the industry. This is after he was asked to comment on some of the songs that are vulgar and will be copyrighted once the law is enacted.
The Semyekozo singer added that there are songs that have been brought to him to feature on but he rejected them. This is because they were too vulgar for his brand. However, he would tell the owners that these songs will be big but he can’t feature on them.
Additionally, the singer added that there are songs he can’t allow his kids to listen to. Even if he found them listening, he would scold them.
