Ministry Of Education Embraces New Teaching Model

In an effort aimed at improving quality of our education system starting from primary, Ministry of Education has embraced Teachers in Need new teaching model dubbed Reading Implementation Compass Approach (RICA).

Rica model emphasizes on reading that passing exams and hold teachers to focus on improving reading culture of pupils.

According to Peter Okware Director Teachers in Need an umbrella organization of teachers says government adopted this new model following serious scrutiny by Education Director for basic education Dr. Mukaka Lusambu.

“After  presenting Groom a teacher and Reading Implementation Compass Approach (RICA), to the Ministry in the department of basic education working group,we found out that this programe would enhance the Ministry to grade literacy and Numeracy improvement framework implementation of teachers and learners development,”Mukasa said.

But why this programme

According to Okware Peter, they found out that most school teachers emphasize passing exams than teaching pupils reading skills that are fundamental to their education development.

Rica will improve teacher’s welfare capacity and performance.

Teachers in Need currently has working arrangement with World Vision where they carry out mentorship training programmes for World Vision funded schools.

Interventions

Teachers in Need will hold teachers excellence award this year in amid to appreciate hardworking teachers in hard to reach areas that doing good service to this nation.

The survey to identify these teachers for the awards will be rolled out this June country-wide.
